Stupid conversation at work today...
by occasion of the 5th of November.

(This could very well be from a Monty Python script...)

Lady M - Do you have Bonfires in Portugal?

Me - Not really... To celebrate Guy Fawkes?

Lady A - He was Portuguese, wasn't he?

Lady M - Guido Fawkes. His name was Guido.

Me - That's not really a Portuguese name...

Lady A - I think he was Portuguese.

(I'm not at all convinced and quickly do a Wiki search...)

Me - No, he was actually English, he just adopted that name when he fought for the Spanish...

Lady M - I knew it had something to do with Spain...

Lady A - So you could actually celebrate him in Portugal.

Me - He was English and had a Spanish name. Even if he was from Spain, that still wouldn't make him Portuguese...

Lady M - So you never had something like that in Portugal?

Mr G - Of course not. He set fire to the Parliament. They don't have a Parliament in Portugal.
